Packing to move and social media

can make you feel out of touch, social media can help you to keep in touch easily.

I have two weeks to get ready to move, a daunting task that you break down into little tasks. So when I take a break I catch up with what is happening in the world and friends thru social media. It really helps to not be out of touch, and I can easily ask for help if I am trying to find something I need. Do you realize how much your target audience depends on social media every day? Can they find you there? Are you searching and finding them with your solutions to the problems they are dealing with?

I called one tree trimmer that has no online presence because my husband wanted three estimates to cut down a tree. Two of the local tree trimmers had websites so I could check out who they are and what kind of work they do, but the other five tree trimmer businesses only have a yellow page listings. Since I needed three estimates when I called the company without any online presence I had no idea about the company or the work they do. In today’s world where there is so much information available to the consumer, it makes you feel a little uneasy when you can’t find out anything about a company you are interested in doing business with.

When I was contacting moving companies, I ran into various levels of information and customer service. The company I chose to do business with had the most easily found information, sent me a follow up email along with my estimate and went over and above to explain their services. As a business owner and marketer, this was quite an experience to see the different levels of information provided by companies I was seeking to possibly do business with.

I am able to share the good customer service with friends through social media, giving testimony to the companies that are providing great services to me at this time. They are easy to find, they have the solutions to my moving problems and concerns and I am excited to have it all fall into place.

This reinforces how important our online presence is. How easy is it for our audience to find us? How easy do we make it to provide answers to their questions? Is our business reputation shared and complemented by them?

When the doctor becomes the patient he sees medicine in a new light. Become the customer of your own business and see it in a new light. It will help you to make improvements that will benefit you current customers and those that are looking for you.

Is Your Marketing Like the Weather?

"Is your marketing like the weather"

Is Your Marketing Like the Weather?

Is your marketing like the weather? This is a screen shot of the weather today in my location. Now stop and think about how every one checks the weather every day. They check the weather before they travel, and what the weather will be like at their destination. They check the weather to see what to wear, do they have to adjust their plans, will travel be delayed? Weather is critical to us in our lives, we all want to know what is the “WEATHER” going to be!

The meteorologists tell the weather over and over all day long every day. They have a huge audience that sometimes is happy with their message and sometimes not very happy with their message. The message matters all the same no matter what, and sometimes the weather trumps all the other news out there. The weather has it’s own channel, so you can know what the weather is at any given location at any time of day!

Imagine if your marketing message was as engaging to your audience as the weather, they constantly would want to know what you have to say that matters to them and their daily lives. It would have to be easily accessible anywhere and anytime. You would be telling the story over and over again, but they would still want to know what it is because it would give them a solution to questions and problems they face each day. They would engage with you and want those solutions. Your marketing message would be very popular and respected by them. They would find huge value in engaging with you. Even if they didn’t always like the message, they would trust you for the end result.

We have a solution for that! How can we help you today? Please leave your comments and share with a friend if you found value here.

Seven Weeks to Year End

Seven Weeks left

Will the last seven weeks of 2012 be epic?

Are you so busy working that you haven’t realized there are only seven weeks until year end? I actually was shocked to know that we are almost half-way through November. The election was a distraction to say the least, so glad to have all those ads gone. Depending on how you expected the outcome to be, has it derailed you from making sure the last seven weeks of 2012 are epic?

Yes, you should have had your year end push in place and executing to your audience. In the world we live in today, change is coming so fast that we need to be constantly adjusting. The biggies term I have heard this week post election is “fiscal cliff”. Another business journal is advising to be sure before you buy gift cards because that particular business could be “out of business” after the holidays. How’s that for causing uncertainty in the marketplace? So maybe we need to make sure that we are reassuring our clients and target market that we will continue to provide incredible customer service, products and more for them. We have a solid foundation of future plans to continue to serve them and welcome their faith in us. When you consider how social media has changed how we communicate, we can continually share the positive to combat the negative that our audience is hearing.

Facebook, Google+1, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn provide many platforms to combat the negative with our positive messages to our clients and target market. We give them something to look forward too, a solution for their problems and needs along with reassurance of continued relationships with us. This is a great opportunity to provide solutions for their fears, worry’s and concerns. They will know that we will work with them to move forward no matter what we hear to the contrary! Listen to your clients and audience and give them back a epic seven weeks for the rest of 2012!

Your Inspiring Story Matters

Are you telling your inspiring story? Do you know how to tell your inspiring story? Here is an example I found nearby that tells a story.

Are you telling your story?

This is on a building close to my daughter’s home and I stumbled upon it. You can learn a lot from this picture if you know the story behind it. To the people that know this story, this picture has a lot of meaning. If you don’t know anything about this picture, you might not even care about the story. Remember those childhood books we all loved and read over and over again? They mattered to us and we most likely read those same books to our children, I know I did. Now my grandchildren are reading those stories too.

The power of your inspiring story can connect your audience when shared with your target market. That inspiration can be the very thing that matters and brings them through your door. They will share your story with their friends and family because it was inspiring to them. Stories get handed down, shared and brought back to life over and over again. You have more opportunities than ever to tell your story. Social Media is recording your story with a history of what you have shared in word and pictures. You can share a blog with your audience, building a community of followers and participants excitedly expecting what you will share next. Your story truly matters to those who buy from you and who will buy in the future. It makes an impression unlike a product that can be forgotten when something new shows up.

So today take time to write down your story, to examine the value and share it with your market. They will engage and share and come back for more.

What are your favorite stories, and why were they your favorite?

There is NO Magic Bullet Marketing

One more week to go and we will be in the last quarter of this year! Today is the last day of summer, blink and it will be fall. I really don’t like to give up summer, but the short days and cooler temps often don’t give us much choice. So now we must evaluate where we are and where we are going through the end of the year. Do you feel panicked over the results of the first three quarters and your performance? Do you feel secure that everything is working well and you can relax? If you feel panicked why? I always warn against relaxing because the changes come fast and furious, and change will continue that pattern for the foreseeable future. One important note, “there is no magic bullet” and don’t let anyone try to sell you one.

How many magic bullets have you tried?

How many magic bullets have you tried that didn’t perform as promised, wasting your money on a “quick” solution to your problem? Having a good marketing plan that has a system to implement and execute it will go a long way on results and satisfaction. I must receive at least 50 emails a day telling me of the next “Magic Bullet of Marketing”. “If you buy this now you will have X number of $’s in two weeks”. Yes so much has changed, and some things that used to work aren’t very effective now, but keeping up and keeping current is different than “black hat” marketing promises that are a waste of time and money.

When you have a good system, with dependable and consistent execution whether it be Social Media Marketing, Direct Mail Marketing, Mobile Marketing or Blog Marketing along with the tools that make it all work; success will be yours. Remember there are many tools of marketing, but a good plan and execution is what pulls it all together for results that will bring your target market to you!

Comfort Zones and Marketing

Comfort zones, we all have them. A comfort zone can actually keep your marketing from having that aha moment for your clients.

Does your comfort zone keep your business a secret?

Does your comfort zone keep your business a secret? Every day we are bombarded with marketing pitches everywhere we go. If you think about the different marketing you are exposed to, what makes you react? What catches your interest and causes you to want to respond? If you are in a comfort zone with your marketing, you might want to re-think that maybe it is time to change things up. With so much competition today on so many platforms of social media, mobile apps, direct mail and more, you want to stand our from the crowd. You want to impact your market so that they have a reaction whether negative or positive to stop and pay attention. Ask yourself, what makes me better? What makes my product or services different? What is it that set’s me apart from my competition? Do you have humor, fun and excitement in your marketing? Is it your style to shock, stun and make a unusual statement?

Why not try to change up your comfort zone in your marketing and see the rapid change for your business when you stand out from the crowd and your competition!

Your Business and Apps

Apple made some big announcements this week.

No matter what your business is, there are apps in your life!

In case you were busy running your business and you missed these facts, I want to share them with you. There are 4 million accounts in the iTunes Store that have credit cards attached to them. There are 650,000 apps in the App Store, with 225,000 for iPad alone. There have been 30 BILLION apps downloaded.

Every business has been affected by this shift in marketing and communicating. The advantages to your business can be huge. You have instant access to your audience. You are able to communicate your new services, products, specials, rewards, appreciation and so much more. Your social media is located in the same place, your information is available for referral 24/7, your audience doesn’t have to search for your information to share it. Apps are changing the world and the way we do business. They aren’t a fad, or used by a few. Your target market plays games with apps, gets directions, books transportation, vacation offers, buy almost any product you can imagine and share their photos, and on and on.

You can have an app for almost anything you can imagine. Computers have apps, phones have apps, and apps will be on your television! Do you hear all the clicking going on? Are you benefitting from apps in your business? What are you waiting for? I have a solution for that!

Marketing Misconceptions Can Cost You

One of the most often misconceptions I hear from business owners is “I will invest in marketing after I earn more money”. The second most often heard marketing misconception is “most marketing will not help my business because I am different”.

The reason that these statements are misconceptions can be explained in depth, and also simply. Let’s start at simply. A good marketing platform is what helps you to make more money. A good marketing plan also can reach your target market no matter how unique your business is.

Consider this, the largest target market is now mobile. If you feel that doesn’t apply to you, look around you as you are out and about each day and observe what you see going on around you. Smartphone, netbooks and iPads everywhere being used by every kind of business owner and client. Is texting now a part of your life because your kids don’t want to talk on the phone but they will answer your text messages?

Do you know that Direct Mail campaigns can be very beneficial for your business if they are done correctly? When you are busy running your business every day, it is very difficult to keep up with the massive changes that have been going on the last 18 months in the digital world and the marketing world. When you have a consultation with a good marketing company that evaluates your current marketing results along with new marketing tools and services that they can provide; success is proven and often is more than you expected.

You can evaluate what it is costing you every day not to have a good marketing platform and find the value of a good marketing platform that helps your target market to find you even if they don’t know your name. Your services and products are needed and wanted, make sure that your are where your target market will find you and call you today!

Endless White Noise

The business world is full of endless white noise. Signs flashing, constant push updates on your mobile phone, endless ads on TV, flashing by one after the other wasting countless hours in a day. One of the most important things we can do is TUNE IT OUT. When was the last time you took a walk deep in the woods, where the only things you saw were leaves in the wind and nature going about the business of everyday life.

We can get so caught up in the flashing, blaring, and glaring interruptions of endless white noise, that we forget how important it is to have quiet, no distractions and solitude once in awhile. It refreshes our thought processes so we can see things more clearly. It take us out of the endless stream of immediate crisis to a place of order and function.

I understand the need in marketing for the flashing signs, the blaring commercials trying to get your attention, anyone’s attention. Those aren’t always the best solutions for long term success. What puts you in front of your target market in a powerful way that conveys the solution and comfort you are offering in their life? What makes your target market seek you out because you aren’t the blaring, flashing business in their face?

My eight year old grandson has been carrying around a Target catalogue looking at the pictures over and over with the thought that maybe, just maybe one of his favorites in this catalogue will be his for Christmas. It isn’t the flashing TV ads, or the blaring signs that have caught him, but a quiet catalogue with lots of pictures that he is looking at over and over again. A catalogue that is like a best friend that he takes everywhere, even when he comes to Grandma’s house.

Take a quiet break today, your target market doesn’t need you to shout at them.
